Denver Self-Help Group

This a group for people in the Denver area who have a desire to improve the quality of their lives by learning and discussing various topics related to psychology. Many of our members suffer from shyness or social anxiety. Others have problems with public speaking anxiety, self-esteem, depression, or weight management.

We meet a few times a month, generally on Saturday afternoons. Our meetings consist of one member giving a brief presentation on a topic relevant to the group, and then we have a discussion. Anyone can give the presentation and you can choose to participate in the discussion or just listen. There's never any pressure to do anything. So far, we've discussed topics such as self-esteem, exposure therapy, mindfulness, and we've even gotten into the ancient teachings of the Buddha.

It's a fun and supportive group. It's purely a self-help group and it's by no means a substitute for therapy. None of us are professional therapists. What we can provide is a sense of normalcy, though, since all of us have issues we're trying to deal with.

Artful Singles - A creative new way to meet singles
Michel Zweig, an artist with 20 years of teaching experience hosts workshop where singles work together on fun art projects. No experience nessasary, just come to have fun.

The 21/2 hours long workshops are scheduled on weekends in north metro Denver and Longmont.

Single Parenting Class - Single Parent Family Outreach
This 7 week class will focus specifically on parenting as a single. Whether you are the custodial or non-custodial parent, are a single parent due to death, separation, or choice, you will learn intentional parenting skills and how to make minor changes that will result in large improvements in the emotional atmosphere of your home!

The class meets on 7 Monday evenings, October 1 – November 12, 2007, from 5:45-6:45PM in the DTC area. Cost for all 7 sessions is $75.

Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation - A non-profit organization devoted to helping adults with cancer enjoy life. DPFCF meets this mission everyday by giving cancer patients access to social, cultural, and recreational activities.

In 2005, the Foundation will serve over 2,000 adults with cancer and their families throughout Colorado by arranging over 6,000 activities. Providing these services would be impossible without the generous support of our event attendees and the many individual, corporate, foundation, and in-kind supporters.

Women Helping Women - Are you a caring person who likes to help others and make a difference? Women Helping Women is a support group for women, 40's-50's with Christian/Judaic values, who have had adversity in their lives and have become more compassionate because of it. Our focus will be to help and support women in our group, we will also help and support women in the community.

Divorce Adjustment & Support Group - Single Parent Family Outreach
This 14 week course addresses not only the practical aspects of divorce, but also the emotional and spiritual. The group meets on Monday evenings, from 7 - 8:30PM in the DTC area.

Education on a pertinent topic and caring support each week, with groups meeting continuously, so that you can begin at the time when you are most in need! A new session begins on Monday, October 1, 2007. Cost for all 14 weeks is $125. A new location offer, which reduces the cost by half, is available to the first 10 participants.
