Singles Golf Party
Boomer Singles Network
Monday Nights starting June 16th
5:30 to 8 p.m.
Kennedy Golf Course
East Hampden and South Havana.
Last summer Professional Singles Network held a golf outing every Wednesday
at Mira Vista Golf Course at Lowry. This summer the course is closed
for remodeling so we did not continue the events.
After several guests at our parties and the Memorial Weekend picnic asked
about summer golf, I met with the general manager at Kennedy Golf Course
and have created a weekly golf party on Monday nights.
The first gathering and play date will be next Monday evening June 16
from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Kennedy Golf Course at East Hampden and South
Havana.
The weekly golf parties will on the outside the three-level patio overlooking
the West and the Par-3 courses.
Age Group--45 to 63 (the Baby Boom Generation ages--the target age range
and new name for our singles group, Boomer Singles Network).
For Beginners--Two men will team with two women to play on the short
Par-3 course that starts just below the patio of Kennedy Golf Course
Clubhouse.
Meet and Learn--This is not competitive league play. The purpose is for
singles to meet and enjoy a fun sport. This is not serious golf, it is
a singles party walking around at sunset on a lawn you don't have to
mow.
Scramble Format - This is a team event. Everyone hits their first drive,
then the ball landing in the best location is selected. Everyone picks
up their ball plays the next shot from the best location. Beginner golfers
become "putt leaders" showing teammates the line of the first
putt. Occasionally they make one.
Volunteer Instructors - Experienced men and women golfers will be teamed
with beginners to give them tips on playing techniques and help them
learn on-course skills. Many women have already taken lessons but never
felt comfortable on a full-length course.
Cost: $15 per person includes green fee, tee time and organization.
Loaner Clubs - I have loaner sets of 4-5 clubs that beginners can borrow
and carry at no additional charge.
Discounted Dinner--Kennedy's Woods & Irons Restaurant will offer "Sack
Dinners" of a sandwich, chips and a drink for a discounted price.
They can be eaten on the patio before teeing off and taken on the course
if you want.
Fast Play - The Par-3 can be played in under two hours compared to the
nine hole course at over 2 1/2 hours.
Nine Hole Play - If some experienced golfers want to team up and play
the full-length West Nine they can do so for $4 more.
Changing Clothes - The lower level restrooms at Kennedy are large, more
private and can be used for changing from work attire into comfortable
clothing.
No Commitmen - You do not have to play each week or rush from work. Tee
times will start at 5:30 and go until 6:30 p.m. Everyone should be finished
by 8:30.
Bad Weather - We won't play but will still get together for indoor lessons,
the meet & greet party, snacks, music and maybe dancing.
No Event Conflicts - Scheduled on Monday nights to avoid Tuesday Downtown
Organization (TDO) parties (June 17), Elway's Nightclub Patio Parties
on Wednesday nights and Marti's Glenmoor Party on Thursday nights. Also
American Idol and Dancing with The Stars are over.
Friendly Competition - Team scores can be compared over drinks at the
end of play for bragging rights and possession of "Traveling Trophy
Towels" next week.
